Hounslow Wolves XI v Inter Manor FC

25th September 2022

Hounslow Wolves XI 10-1 Inter Manor FC

After what Deano called his favourite ever XI performance last week, XI had an opportunity to let the result match the performance this week against a lesser favoured team alongside some big hitters returning.

Having comprehensively beating Manor in Pre-season, spirits were high and the management team of Joe and Deano got to business straight away. The team had been asking to “finally put a game to bed” having been 2 up on 6 occasions last season to somehow not come out winners. The plan was simple. Drive, shoot on site, follow up everything. If we can do what we did last week, we would be within a good shout. “We can start putting teams away, 8, 9 or 10-0”

With a front 3 of Ash, Tush and Abdulla there was potential the writing would be on the wall – and so it proved.

Without going into detail, the game was mismatch from the start. There is an argument Manor should not be in the same division, but too their credit, they never downed tools and battled to the end – even with a man sent off after 30 minutes. Abdulla and Tush put Wolves 2-0 up after 10 minutes before a bizarre 70 yard goal from Dabeer put Wolves 3 up. A deliberate hand ball saw Manor reduced to 10, Arun scoring the spot kick before another 3 goals putting Wolves 7 up before half time. Manor were put through to score a simple goal with no blame on Kieren’s door as he had nothing to do for 45 minutes.

The half time talk was pleasant and players were encouraged to go and make a marker on the league table. It was always going to be harder against 10 men without really having to break sweat. It was an opportunity to get subs on early, giving Marcus, Aiden, Bhullar and Nikhil V some much needed match minutes. Tush and Arun got 1 more each before Abdulla got his hattrick, Wolves ending up 10-1 winners.

Very little learned, but proof XI can score and can punish teams that are not ready. This could have easily been a tough game for XI last season. XI have already scored 1/3 of the total goals last season so the signs are good. Very hard to award a MOTM but Dabeer is proving himself to be a real leader and despite his 2nd goal of the season, his commands, leadership and work ethic on the pitch are an excellent indicator of whats to come. Tough game next week against last seasons Div 1 West Drayton.
