Hounslow Wolves XI v Kensington Dragons
28th November 2021
Hounslow Wolves XI 1-0 Kensington Dragons
If last weeks limp win actually felt a loss, this week was the polar opposite. An incredible demonstration of what hard training, heart, dedication and desire to win can produce.
Despite driving through Hospitals to find the ground, Wolves ventured into White City to play Dragons, a team they just about beat 2 weeks ago. That game was tight, and this was just tight. Wolves without a keeper or top scorer Anil still turned up confident and with 1st teamer Abdulmajid and Nikhil V, the injection of quality added optimism. Wolves were also missing all 3 central midfielders of Ash, Gugs and Raj, however it finally allowed Magican Garcha to move into the middle alongside Majid. Manager Deano donned the gloves but with Dabeer and Mo infront, Wolves set up looked strong. The exciting Prince and Ranveer on either flanks would always mean danger and so it proved.
Wolves are on a 3 game winning streak, but haven’t really inspired. The determination and strong defence have meant only 1 shot on target against us in 3 games….This became 4 after today. Wolves started with intent again, just as they have for the past 3 weeks. Prince was a constant threat, and after several direct runs with no end product , he was brought down after 15 minutes giving the ref no option but to award a penalty. Abdulmajid smashed it down the centre to give Wolves a 1-0 lead, the 4th game in a row they have scored 1st knowing they are strong enough to keep a lead. And so it proved – Wolves never really looked in trouble. The difference this week was that Wolves didn’t want to accept 1-0 and were intent on scoring more. The opposition was tougher last week but Wolves continued to turn the screw. Garcha now playing in his preferred position was majestic in his passing, and with the pace up front, Wolves finally looked like they could start tearing teams apart.
That being said, a 2nd goal never came. Balls over the bar, offsides, last minute tackles. Wolves were not going to walk off the pitch like they did last week. With 4 subs, the Wolves squad is starting to take shape, relationships are growing and belief is there for all to see
Wolves know they cant get carried away. Everyone is beating everyone but Wolves are still playing at about 65% of their potential. A 4 game winning streak, 1 goal conceded and improved moral is a great indicator. On to next week – Lets see what the squads bring.
