Hounslow Wolves v Heston Celtic
4th October 2020
Wolves 5-3 Heston Celtic
On a Sunday Morning whilst most of the UK was under water, Cranford School played host to an spirited Hounslow Wolves, playing the clubs first competitive game in its history. Wolves were inspired and proved just what dedication and a challenging pre-season can provide. Despite the score line suggesting the game was a close affair, Wolves never really looked in danger and controlled the tempo for the majority of the game. To a man, every Wolf showed just what they can do, giving Manager Rishi a real selection dilemma for the rest of the season. Wolves started like they had been playing together for years and took the lead in 7th minute when master finisher Bilal clinically slotted away after good work from the ever energetic Ranveer. After further dominating for another 20 minutes, Rudy danced his way through several tackles before blasting the ball into the Celtic net , causing mass hysteria on the sidelines. Despite the dominance, Wolves do what they have done all pre season and have a nervous 10 minutes, somehow allowing Celtic to score a quick fire brace, levelling the scores at 2-2. Pav had made some excellent saves in the build up, but both scrambled goals were through no fault of his own. However, the most rewarding part of the game was seeing inspirational leader Sanj rally the troops, keeping spirits high and ensuring the crazy 10 minutes was over. The rest of the boys took inspiration, and all looked pumped. The second half started slightly slower, but when Rudy grabbed his second, there was only ever going to be one winner. Despite Celtic yet again equalising, the quality in the middle of the park was the difference. Dylan and Bhullar were at their creative best, and when sub Adam smashed a right foot rocket for 4-3, Bilz quickly grabbed his 2nd and Wolves 5th to secure a memorable day for all involved. Wolves will still take negatives from the game, and will still look to grow and cut out some of the sloppy mistakes.
We will play a lot tougher teams this season and could have been punished playing a better side. However, it is so good to see the work in training coming off and the rewards are fruitful. Wing backs bombing on will be a nightmare for the rest of the league. Wolves remained defensively strong despite conceding 3 with Pav having an exceptional game pulling off several decent saves in tough conditions.
Wolves will always score and will cause a lot of issues to a lot of teams. With 4 or 5 key players still missing, the future does look promising.
