Hounslow Wolves v AFC Heathrow
A true display of determination and resilience from the boys in orange ahead of next weeks season opener ended with a narrow 4-3 defeat. Following an exhilarating display in their last game against Spelthorne, Wolves were looking to build momentum ahead of next week’s inaugural game in the league for the club. Despite a slow start it was the Wolves who broke the deadlock first with a tidy finish from striker Bilal. The no7 capitalised on a mistake from the opposition defence before calmly slotting home. The lead was short lived as AFC levelled shortly thereafter. AFC ended the half strongly with two quick goals before the half time whistle. The opposition leading the wolves 3-1 as the teams swapped sides. The second half saw Hounslow hungrier and determined to resolve the score line. However, it was Heathrow who added to their half-time lead following a nice piece of play to go up 4-1 into the last third. Minutes later a beautifully timed pass from Dylan into the box ahead of the onrushing Bilal, gave the wolves a route back into the game via a spot-kick. As with his haircuts, Bilal was on point from the spot and tucked the pen home. AFC responded well with some great periods of possession but the wolves defence remained steadfast. With AFC leading 4-2 heading into the final 10 mins the resilient wolves bagged another through Rudy who dispatched a shot into the bottom left corner. The three-goal deficit proved too much however and AFC Heathrow took home a well fought 4-3 victory. The boys in orange can be proud of their mental fortitude and will look to start the season off strong next week against Heston Celtic.
